Ingredients

  • 250 g cooked shredded meat
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter
  • 100 g plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 4 each pita breads
  • 6 slices packaged salami
  • 4 slices brown bread
  • 150 g bacon
  • 100 ml white wine
  • 200 ml beer
  • 2 each apples

Instructions

  1. Warm butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add bacon and cook until crisp; remove and drain on paper towel, reserve fat in pan.
  3. Sauté shredded meat in reserved fat until heated through and slightly crispy at edges.
  4. Pour in white wine and beer, simmer 3–5 minutes to reduce and concentrate flavors.
  5. Stir in peanut butter and yogurt until sauce is smooth and coats the meat; season to taste with salt and pepper.
  6. Core and thinly slice apples; toss briefly in pan to warm and soften, about 1–2 minutes.
  7. Warm pita breads lightly in a dry pan or oven until pliable.
  8. Lay a pita, place a slice of brown bread on it if using for texture, then spoon peanut-yogurt meat down the center.
  9. Top with warm apple slices, crumbled bacon and folded salami slices.
  10. Fold or roll the pita tightly, press briefly in a pan to seal if desired.
  11. Slice wraps in half and serve warm.
