Create warm, caramelized orange slices in under 15 minutes.
4 medium oranges, butter or neutral oil for the pan, optional granulated or brown sugar for sprinkling.
Wash and dry oranges. Cut into 1/4-inch slices, remove seeds. Heat a large nonstick or cast-iron skillet over medium-high and add a thin layer of butter or oil. Optionally sprinkle a little sugar on each slice. Place slices in a single layer without overcrowding. Cook 1–2 minutes per side until caramelized and browned. Transfer to a plate and drizzle with pan juices or a splash of orange juice.
Serve warm as a garnish for cocktails, atop yogurt or ice cream, with roasted meats, or in a simple salad. For more caramelization, briefly torch the top after searing.
