Ingredients include 200 g pasta, 150 g sliced mushrooms, 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 clove garlic, 30 g grated Parmesan, 1 tbsp butter, salt, and pepper.
Cook pasta until al dente and reserve 1/2 cup pasta water. Sauté garlic in oil and butter 30 seconds, add mushrooms and cook 5–7 minutes until browned. Toss with pasta, loosen with pasta water, melt Parmesan, season, and serve.
Brown mushrooms well for depth of flavor. Add a splash more pasta water if the sauce seems dry. Finish with Parmesan off heat for a creamy coat.
